We are pleased to announce a new collaboration between CDISC and Microsoft: we held this workshop to discuss the transformational change this partnership will ignite.
Randomized controlled clinical trials remain the bedrock of drug development, yet this work faces significant challenges including costs to bring drugs to market and the actionable availability of real world data from routine healthcare settings. Despite the availability of more data, drug development is challenged by the growing number and diversity of data sources used in any given clinical trial. Data transformations remain time consuming and expensive. Most technology solutions lack the features and flexibility to readily adapt to new opportunities and challenges.
These interlinked industry problems will require an industry-wide solution. We think we have one part of the solution and need your involvement to bring it fully into existence. CDISC and Microsoft have teamed up to build a next generation metadata management platform. At the core of this platform are the CDISC standards. We are calling the platform CDISC Open Library Powered by Microsoft. This platform will be cloud-based and scalable from inception. It will contain and form the substrate from which our community will build the CDISC 360 metadata into useable, actionable support for beginning-to-end data automations. CDISC Open Library will allow collaborative curation as well.
