This example shows how the data for regular, routine visits to a dental clinic would be represented in the Healthcare Encounters (HO) Events domain. Note that HOSTDTC (start date of the clinical encounter) is an expected variable. It can be left null, but this would trigger a warning in validation software, if used.

Item Number 31 - Regular visit at dental clinic.

Row 1:Shows the question about the occurrence of a "dental clinic visit" was solicited on the CRF using the HOPRESP variable to indicate the specific healthcare encounter event was prespecified and the HOOCCUR variable represents whether the healthcare encounter event in HOTERM did occur using (Y/N). The HODTC variable captures the date of the event data was collected and the HOSTDTC reflects the start date of routine dental clinic visits.
Row 2:Shows participant ABCDE-002 had not participated in routine dental clinic visits as of the date shown in HODTC. The HODTC variable captures the date the data was collected and the HOSTDTC is null because a "dental clinic visit" did not occur.
