Membership FAQ

Will I have access to CDISC Standards as a member?

Absolutely! As a CDISC Member, you receive full access to all CDISC Standards in the various formats which can currently be exported from the CDISC Library. Members can conveniently access digital versions via the CDISC Library and take advantage of advanced tools and resources designed to streamline standards adoption and implementation. CDISC Foundational Standards are free and available to all users in a downloadable format.

What value does the CDISC Library offer to members?

The CDISC Library is your go-to metadata repository for machine-readable metadata standards, offered in multiple digital formats like RDF, XML, JSON, and CSV. CDISC Members have exclusive access to these digital resources, supporting seamless integration with software and accelerating the implementation of data standards.

How do members benefit from the CDISC Knowledge Base?

The CDISC Knowledge Base provides members with full access to a continually expanding collection of expert-curated resources to guide the implementation of CDISC Standards. As a member, you can explore articles, the eCRF Portal, the eTFL Portal, future portals, and resources, as well as the ability to contribute new content. Members enjoy the most up-to-date information and comprehensive support, empowering successful standards adoption.

Why is CDISC making these changes to standards access and the membership model?

These updates reflect CDISC’s commitment to its member community and the continued innovation, development, and sustainability of industry standards. CDISC Membership supports both the growth of shared knowledge and the ongoing improvement of essential resources relied upon by the global research community. As standards and technology become more tightly integrated and the CDISC Standards become more sophisticated focused on connected and linked information, CDISC needs to evolve and enhance the infrastructure and resources required to support the interoperability of the standards.

What are the key benefits of becoming a CDISC Member?

CDISC Members enjoy:

  • Full access to the latest standards in multiple formats
  • Exclusive Knowledge Base content, plus the ability to contribute and collaborate
  • Opportunities to connect with and learn from leading data standards experts
  • A voice in shaping new standards and best practices
  • Invitations to exclusive webinars
  • Discounts on training and event registrations

Platinum Members receive additional perks such as expanded training, basic standards support, and direct engagement with CDISC initiatives.

How do I become a CDISC Member?

Joining is easy. Membership rates are tailored to your organization’s size, and benefits begin once your application is approved and payment is received. You can apply for membership online via our Inquiry Form.

Is membership organization-wide?

Yes! Membership covers all employees in your organization, granting everyone global access to CDISC Standards, resources, and support.

What defines an "Individual Contributor"?

An individual contributor is a someone who is self-employed and works independently (not employed by any one company). Typically, these individuals are consultants or CDISC Instructors.

What does “Open Community” mean?

The Open Community includes everyone who uses and leverages the open and freely available standards whether or not they are a member of CDISC. The Open Community can access the standards through our standards browser and download as they need to implement in their company.

Can you summarize access to the CDISC Library API?

The CDISC Library was implemented to develop and store digital CDISC standards allowing users to download and integrate their technology solutions with the Library API. Moving forward, access to the CDISC Library through a specific API key will be a member benefit.  However, members who use the Library API key to make their solutions available to their customers are not required to verify the CDISC membership of those customers.  If you are a vendor who offers solutions that integrate with the CDISC Library, we ask that you encourage your customers to become CDISC members to help us continue to support the required infrastructure.

The new membership model is based on revenue. Does this apply to  my department or whole organization?

The CDISC Standards are required for regulatory submission of data and therefore the value of the standards is important across your organization.  Therefore, membership based on revenue applies to your entire organization. If life sciences is only one part of your broader organizational focus, please contact our membership team to discuss the appropriate membership fee.
