Diabetes Diagnosis

Patients with diabetes are at increased risk for AKI. Therefore, information regarding the diagnosis including the date of diagnosis and the type of diabetes (e.g., type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)) may be collected. This example shows subjects with T1DM and T2DM. The start of the condition was considered to be the date of diagnosis, as opposed to symptom onset, first identifiable hyperglycemic episode, or other milestones by which diabetes might have been considered to "start." MHEVDTYP = "DIAGNOSIS" to indicate that MHSTDTC has been populated with the date of diagnosis.
