The Industry Advisory Board (IAB) is
comprised of a representative from each
Corporate Sponsor company. Duties of the
IAB representatives are as follows:
Participate in Advisory Board Meetings
Advisory boards should meet together,
not as often as the board of directors,
but at least two times per year. The
advisory board chair should work to
develop and distribute the meeting agenda.
Participate in Working Teams and Task
Forces
The advisory boards may develop task
forces that have assigned tasks in specific
areas. In addition, CDISC working teams
are developed to implement strategies
and tactics defined in the strategic
plan. The advisory groups are responsible
for working with the President/OIS to
resource these groups from their accessible
pools and the CDISC pool of resources.
The advisory board members may choose
to participate in the working team and/or
assign someone from their organization
to participate.
Support Strategic plan
An important role of advisory boards
is to provide input and advice during
the development of the organization's
strategic plan as well as during the
implementation. Because advisory boards
are collections of individuals who bring
unique knowledge and skills which complement
the knowledge and skills of the formal
board members, their advice can often
provide for more effective governance
of the organization.
Participate in Fund Raising
Advisory boards often have the influence
and contacts to successfully participate
in fund raising activities.
Enhance the Organization's Public
Image
As with all groups of the CDISC organization,
advisory board members will speak at
conferences, write papers, champion
the 'cause', etc. to articulate the
organization's mission, accomplishments,
and goals to the public.
